Who we are
Zone of Mac™, a division of Neo Tap Studios, LLC ("we," "us," "our") publishes articles and resources for Apple users on our website at zoneofmac.com (the "Site").
What we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide: If you email us or sign up for the newsletter, we collect what you submit (typically your email address and any message content). Newsletter sign-up is optional.
Technical data: Our hosting/platform records limited technical information sent by your browser (e.g., IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, timestamps) for security and operations.
Analytics data: We use Ghost's first-party analytics and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand site usage. GA4 may collect data such as IP address, browser information, and browsing behavior according to Google's privacy policy.
Advertising data: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Site. AdSense may collect data such as IP address, browser information, and browsing behavior to serve and measure ads according to Google's privacy policy.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the Site, deliver the newsletter you request, serve relevant advertisements, improve content, communicate with you, and comply with law.
Cookies, consent, and similar technologies
We use a consent manager to give you control over non-essential cookies and tracking technologies before they are activated. When you first visit the Site, a consent banner appears with the option to accept all cookies, or open Preferences to choose which categories to enable:
Essential: Required for the Site to function. These cannot be turned off.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4): Helps us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Only activated when you grant analytics consent.
Advertising (Google AdSense): Used to show relevant ads and measure ad performance. Only activated when you grant advertising consent.
Your consent choices are saved in your browser's local storage so the Site remembers your preferences on return visits. No consent data is sent to our servers. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2, which ensures that Google Analytics and Google AdSense respect your consent choices. When consent is denied, these services do not set cookies or collect identifiable data.
We also use Affiliatable, which powers product comparison tables and affiliate functionality on the Site. Affiliatable may set cookies to enable its features.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Opt-out preference signals
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar opt-out preference signals where required by applicable law.
Affiliate links (disclosure)
We use plain text/standard links to merchants, as well as product tables powered by Affiliatable. When you follow a link to a third-party site, that site's privacy policy applies. We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program (affiliate advertising). A clear affiliate disclosure is shown on the Site in accordance with Amazon's rules and applicable law.
When we share information
We do not sell personal information. We do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We disclose information only to:
Service providers who help operate the Site (e.g., our website platform/host, its email delivery provider, Google Analytics 4, Google AdSense, and Affiliatable) under agreements that limit their use to our instructions; and
Authorities when required by law.
Data retention
Newsletter email addresses: kept until you unsubscribe, or removed after 12 months of inactivity.
Technical logs: retained by our platform/host for up to 90 days for security and reliability.
Analytics data: retained according to Google Analytics 4 and Ghost default settings (typically 14–26 months).
Consent preferences: stored in your browser's local storage with no expiration. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings or by using the cookie preferences icon on the Site.
If specific retention details are needed, contact us and we will provide current platform settings.
Your choices & rights
Cookie preferences: change your consent choices at any time by clicking the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page.
Newsletter: unsubscribe at any time via the link in our emails or by contacting us.
Access/erasure/correction: email contact@zoneofmac.com. We verify via reply-to email and respond within 45 days unless an extension is permitted by law.
California residents: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at contact@zoneofmac.com.
Depending on your location, additional privacy rights may apply. Requests are honored as required by applicable laws.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (e.g., TLS encryption in transit, limited access controls). No method is perfectly secure.
Children
The Site is for a general audience and not directed to children under 13. If personal information from a child under 13 is identified, it will be deleted.
International visitors
Information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, with protections as described in this policy.
Third-party websites
Links on the Site may lead to other websites. Their practices are governed by their own policies.
