Zone of Mac follows the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics. Here's what that means in practice.
We don't take money for coverage. No paid reviews, no sponsored posts disguised as editorial, no "partnership" content. If something on this site is an ad, it's labeled as an ad.
Affiliate links don't change our recommendations. We use affiliate programs to help cover costs. But if the best product for you doesn't have an affiliate program—or has a worse one—we recommend it anyway. The recommendation comes first; we figure out the business model after.
We test what we write about. If we're walking you through a process, we've done it. If we're recommending hardware, we've used it. "According to the manufacturer" isn't good enough.
We correct mistakes visibly. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note what changed. No silent edits, no memory-holing. The correction stays with the article.
We identify our sources. When we're citing Apple documentation, a developer's changelog, or another publication's reporting, we link to it. You shouldn't have to take our word for things you can verify yourself.
We don't speak for companies. If Apple, or any company, wants to respond to something we've written, we'll include their response. We won't paraphrase it, soften it, or cut the parts that make us look bad.
